Viola Powers Freed
Viola Powers Freed, 87, formerly of Bainbridge, Ohio and more recently of Waverly, Ohio went home to be with Jesus at 11:50 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 in Traditions at Bristol Village.
She was born January 16, 1926 in Whitley County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Pete Lambdin and Mary Lillie (Fuson) Lambdin. On December 4, 1971 Viola was united in marriage to James Edward Freed who preceded her in death on October 5, 2012.
Surviving are children, Geraldine Geri (Estel) James of Waverly, Bobby Jean Uhrig of Chillicothe, Curley Glen (Regina) Powers of Chillicothe, Rev. Jerry Eddie (Beverly) Powers of Chillicothe, Garrett Monroe (Becky) Powers of Waterford, two foster daughters, Ann Powers of Chillicothe, Sue Kepler of Williamsburg, KY, fourteen grandchildren, Mark James, Ronda (Ty) Vickers, Lisa Uhrig, C. Glen Powers, Richard (Sarah) Powers, Tracy (Mark) Gabathuler, Karen (Mason) Purdum, David (Jessica) Powers, Jason (Rebekah) Powers, Tyson (Lori) Powers, Aaron (Heather) Powers, Mandy (Greg) Penisten, Casey LeMaster, Rachel (Wayne) Huddleston, twenty great-grandchildren, Tyson, Kaylyn, Jillian, Alaina, Faith, Noah, Emma, Alex, Maddie, Brodie, Matt, Peyton, Parker, Cordelia, Amos, Celeste, Jasmine, Abby, Jordan, Olivia, five step children, Eugene Erwin, Carol (William) Martin, Sandy Freed, William A. Freed all of Columbus, Ohio, Mary Manter of California, several step grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and special caregiver, Holly Tackett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Ernest, Ancil and Clarence Lambdin, sister, Laura Kishpaugh, great grandson, Mason Garrett Powers and son-in-law, Ronald Uhrig.
Viola was a homemaker, Certified Lay Speaker of the United Methodist Church, Circuit Rider of Bluebird Parish and a member of Nipgen United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Spargursville Church of Christ in Christian Union Church with Rev. Sammie Cooper and Rev. Haden Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly, Ohio from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
