Donna Jean Arrowood Donna Jean Arrowood, 69, of Morse Street, Waverly, Ohio, passed away November 30, 2012 at her home. She was born July 18, 1943 in Chillicothe, Ohio, daughter of the late Russell Burchman Eblin and Helen Grace Hunt Eblin. On July 18, 1985, Donna was united in marriage to Tom Arrowood who preceded her in death on August 2, 2010. Surviving is a daughter, Karla Chandler of Waverly, a stepson, B.T. Arrowood and wife Dee of Chillicothe, Ohio, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Charles Mankin of Utah and a sister, Jody Mankin of Utah as well as special friends, Mona Walker, Tracey B. Blazer and Lara Hammond. In addition to her parents and husband, a son, Lawrence McFadden, a grandson, Mike McFadden and a great grandson, Jonathon Chandler preceded Donna in death. Donna formerly attended Beulah Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union, was a member of the Women of the Moose Post 1668, American Legion Merritt Post 142, Women’s Auxiliary, AMETS Post 58, Auxiliary all of Waverly and VFW Post 2832, Auxiliary of Piketon, Ohio. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday December 3, 2012 at the BOYER FUNERAL HOME in Waverly with Rev. Randall L. Rinehart officiating. Karen Sue McRoberts Karen Sue McRoberts, 68, of Camp Creek Road, Lucasville, Ohio, passed away November 20, 2012 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was born January 24, 1944 in Washington Court House, Ohio, daughter of the late Harry Smith and Virgie Perkins Smith. On April 4, 1965, Karen was united in marriage to Earl Sanford McRoberts, Jr. who preceded her in death on March 30, 2002. Surviving are four children, Richard McRoberts of Chillicothe, Dale Larry McRoberts of Waverly, Earlene O’Dell and husband Richard of Waverly, Rhonda Gambill of Lucasville, 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. “Joe” Pratt Vernon Joseph “Joe” Pratt, 80, of Delay Drive, Piketon, Ohio died Monday December 3, 2012 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born February 6, 1932 in Lucasville, Ohio, son of the late Henry Pratt and Allie Rowe Delay. On February 1, 1952, Joe was united in marriage to Margaret Elizabeth Delay Pratt, who preceded him in death on March 20, 2006. Surviving is a son, Richard Pratt and wife Hollye, a daughter, Janine Karnes and husband Dave, grandson, Michael Bender, and best buddy, Dalton Montgomery. Also surviving are his sisters, Ann Edmister, Carolyn Russell, Vernita Sigler, Joyce Strickland and Phyllis Delay, a brother, Vernon “Oogie” Delay as well as numerous nieces, nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, three sisters, Myrtle, Henrietta and Bobby Lou, and a brother, Carl Orcie preceded Joe in death. Joe was retired from Owens-Illinois (Tecneglas), and U.S. Army veteran. He loved motorcycles, NASCAR, and motorcycle racing. Joe will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 8, 2012 at the Howe Wheeler Boyer Hornback Funeral Home in Piketon, with Paul F. Hornback officiating. He was born 6 February 1938 in Waverly, OH the son of the late Milford Lawrence Lewis and Beth Sadie (Rose) Lewis. Surviving are three children: Peggy Sue Faulkner of Upper Sandusky, OH, Tami Lynn Millhorn of Toronto, OH and Ricky Lewis of Steubenville, OH and three sisters, Mary Coverdale and husband Harry, Ada Bell and Shirley Hackworth all of Waverly, OH. In addition to his parents, three brothers, Pete, William and James Lewis and three sisters: Avis Kennedy, Lucy Haynes and Lucille Stewart preceded Milford in death. Milford was a retired laborer. (Rapp) Lamerson who survives. Also surviving are children, Eldon David Lamerson, Jr. and wife Theresa of Waverly, OH, Carol Amy Lamerson of Columbus, OH, David Hamlin and wife Lauren of Alexandria, VA, Bobby Jo Moore and husband Joey Moore of Piketon, OH, grandchildren, Deric Carl Lamerson of Cincinnati, OH, Jaden Karrie Lamerson of Waverly, OH, Jordan Moon, Kirsten Moon both of Waverly, OH and Skyler Hamlin of Alexandria, VA, brothers, Larry Evan Lamerson of Waverly, OH and Ralph T. Lamerson of Piketon, OH, sisters, Norma Jean Everhart of Greenfield, OH, Judy Montgomery, Linda Hardman and Sherri Blair all of Waverly, OH. Calvin Richmond Calvin Richmond, 86, of Woodland Park Road, Waverly, Ohio died Sunday December 16, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born July 24, 1926 in Scioto furnace, Ohio, son of the late Ora Lee Richmond and Eva Cook Richmond. On June 3, 1947, Calvin was united in marriage to Sarah Mae Conley Richmond, who preceded him in death on November 25, 2003. Surviving are two sons, Stephen Richmond and wife Donna of Waverly, Kevin Richmond of Piketon, Ohio, two granddaughters, Lori Ross and husband Paul of Waverly, Debbie Altman and husband Randy of Waverly, great grandson, Zachary Ross, great granddaughters, Kaitlynn Ross and Sarah Altman, a sister, Eva Wade and husband Ralph of Tipp City, Ohio, and a brother, Earl Richmond of Springfield, Ohio. In addition to his parents and wife, four brothers, Stewart, Carl, Albert and Alfred Richmond, two sisters, Rosemary Strait and Edna Collinsworth, as well as a great grandson, Seth Altman preceded Calvin in death. Calvin was a 35-year Mead Corporation employee, having retired in 1981, and U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Pacific during WWII. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday December 20, 2012 at the Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Chillicothe, with Rev. Marlin Kellough officiating. A military service will be conducted by the American Legion Merritt Post 142, Waverly. Calling hours will not be observed. James Mark Conkel, 88, formerly of the Piketon, Waverly area died 11:39 A.M. Monday 17 December 2012 at SOMC Hospice, Portsmouth, OH. Mark was born 28 April 1924 in Chillicothe, OH the son of the late Rev. James Harold Conkel and Ethel Angeline (McCullough) Conkel. On 27 November 1947 Mark was united in marriage to E. Fae (Rogers) Conkel who preceded him in death on 30 May 2006. Surviving are two sons, Mark L. Conkel of Piketon, OH and Roger W. Conkel of Honolulu, HI, two daughters, Debra K. Conkel of Powell, OH and Victoria L. DiGiovenale of Cincinnati, OH and three grandchildren, Caroline, William and Anna DiGiovenale. In addition to his Parents, Mark was preceded in death by two brothers, Elbert and Delbert Conkel and two sisters, Bernice Oyer and Nell Conkel. Mark formerly attended Parkview Church, Cincinnati, OH, graduate of Waverly High School Class of 1941 and a retired construction plumber and pipe fitter for local #189, Columbus, OH. Surviving is a son, James Ambrose Finley of Piketon, two grandchildren, a great grandson, one brother, Elmer Tomlin and wife Phyllis of Piketon, as well as three sisters, Ruth Looney, Fredia Ealey and Katie Reed all of Piketon. On 11 July 1947, Marie was united in marriage to Henry Otto Silcott who preceded her in death on 22 March 1990. Surviving are three sons, Michael Henry Silcott and fiancée, Cindy Sarver of Carrollton, OH, Kevin Wray Silcott and wife Brenda, Randall Keith Silcott and wife Jennifer both of Waverly, OH, daughter, Debora Frost and husband Michael of Chillicothe, OH, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, one brother James Goble and wife Wilma of Waverly, OH and two sisters, Geneva Derifield of Oxford, GA and Madeline Ingham of Chillicothe, OH. He was born March 14, 1942 in Louisa, Kentucky, son of Dardy Watts Caudill of Wheelersburg, Ohio and the late Herbert Caudill. On December 29, 1961, Audie was united in marriage to Ruth Evelyn Osborn Caudill who survives. Also surviving are his three children, Michelle Naillon and husband Joe of San Jose, California, Matthew Caudill and wife April of Grove City, Mark Caudill and Stacy Carpenter of Grove City, seven grandchildren, one great grandson, three brothers, John Caudill and wife Evelyn of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Hugo Caudill and wife Janet of Palatka, Florida, Larry Caudill of Jackson, Ohio and a sister, Carlotta Reed and husband Bob of Wheelersburg. Audie was the Pastor of the Joan Heights Church of Christ in Christian Union, a retired electrical contractor, and a U.S. Navy veteran from 1960 to 1964, stationed on the USS Joseph P. Smith and wife Anita, Minda E. Hatt and husband Brent, Paul Jonathan Scowden and wife Jayne, Jeremy William Scowden and wife April, and David A. Mantia and wife Cathy; ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, two brothers, Gary Smith and wife Jo Alice of Waverly, and Verlin Smith of Piketon, Ohio, as well as a sister, Neisel Palmer of Groveport, Ohio. Troy was a member of Union Hill Community Church at Peebles, Ohio, a retired businessman, farmer and a WWII U. S. Army veteran. He was born December 14, 1918 in Falls City, Oregon, son of the late Raymond Earl Fox and Pearl Zenia Cooper Fox. On September 12, 1941, Lee was united in marriage to JoAnn, who preceded him in death. On October 25, 2008 he married Eva Jean Holcomb Fox who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Shari Overstreet of Conyers, Georgia, a son Monte Lee Fox of Stockton, California five grandchildren, one great granddaughter, two stepsons, three step-grandchildren and one step-great granddaughter. In addition to his parents and first wife, a daughter, Pamela Klass preceded Lee in death. Colonel Fox was a retired Military Chaplain serving in the U.S. Army in WWII, Korea and Viet Nam, receiving the Bronze Star, Legion of Merit Award, Meritorious Service medal, Army Commendation medal, Unit Presidential Citation and Republic of Viet Nam Service medal. Lee was a member of New Beginnings Outreach in Beaver, Ohio. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 5, 2013 at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly, with Pastor Barry Pelphrey officiating. Also surviving are six children, Rachel Satterfield and husband Wayne of Waverly, Ohio, Alex Gee and wife Cory of Piketon, Bonnie Chandler and husband James of Akron, Ohio, Amy Davis and husband Gary of Beaver, Ohio, Sonny Gee and wife Holly of Bainbridge, Ohio, Jamie Lee of Piketon, a special friend, Eric Akers of Waverly, 11 grandchildren, and one on the way, Aaron, Colton, Chase, Kyla, Donte, Zoe, Taylor, Logan, Austin, Madison, Sophie and Nathan “Bug”, two sisters, Joyce Washburn and husband Delbert of Russell Point, Ohio, Linda Mayes and husband Steve of Orient, Ohio, and a brother, Gary Gee of West Virginia. In addition to his parents, a brother, Gregory Allen Gee, Sr., a sister, Nancy Allen and four grandchildren, Ava, Blake, Hayden and Chelsea, preceded Art in death. Art was a retired laborer out of Local #83. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly with Rev. Jimmie Spencer officiating. He was born October 29, 1941 in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late Chester Vern Kempton and Virginia Ruth (Mullins) Kempton. On December 18, 1961, Larry was united in marriage to Judith Elaine (Murray) Kempton who preceded him in death on April 21, 2007. Surviving are two sons, Eric S. Kempton and wife Lori of Chillicothe, Ohio, Gregory A. Kempton and wife Lynne of Waverly, Ohio, two daughters, Lori Anne Burkitt and husband David of Waverly, Ohio, Sarah E. Rittenour and husband Brian of Waverly, Ohio, four grandchildren, Sydney Kempton, Connor Burkitt, Paul Rittenour, Lydia Rittenour and a sister, Sharon Sue Umina and husband William of Kingston, Ohio. In addition to his parents and wife, a grandson, Evan Andrew Burkitt preceded Larry in death. Larry was a retired Electrician, Mead Corporation, Chillicothe, Ohio, member of Pike Pickers, Scioto Valley Amateur Radio Club, and of New Covenant Church of Christ in Christian Union and attended Liberty Hill Church of Christ in Christian Union. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly with Rev. Jamie Miller officiating. Surviving are one son, Robert Lee Thornsberry and wife Lorrie of Beaver, OH, two grandchildren, Ashley Marie and Kaitlyn Leeann Thornsberry, four brothers, Walter Thornsberry and wife Candy and Mark Thornsberry and wife Andrea both of Beaver, OH, David Thornsberry and wife Julie and Tim Thornsberry and wife Donna both of Waverly, OH, three sisters, Anna Mae Grover of Jackson, OH, Jane Matthews and husband A. J. of Beaver, OH and Linda Potter and husband Glenn of Jackson, OH and a sister-in-law, Wanda Thornsberry of Beaver, OH. In addition to his parents two brothers Steve and Bryan Thornsberry preceded Robert in death. Robert was a self employed Timber Worker. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. She was born October 30, 1928 in Portsmouth, Ohio, daughter of the late Harold “Skeet” Sheridan and Zelma Kegley Sheridan. Surviving are two sons, Phillip Pixley and wife Judy of Sciotoville, Ohio, Harold “Hal” Pixley and Chris Stark of Waverly, granddaughter, Angela Snodgrass and husband Mark of Waverly, great grandchildren, Devon Pixley, Lauren Snodgrass, and a sister, Emily Skarl and husband Roy of Huntington, West Virginia. In addition to her parents, a sister, Donna Frank, preceded Jeanetta in death. Jeanetta was a retired office manager for Family Medi-Center in New Boston, Ohio, attended River Valley Community Church in Waverly. She was an avid Waverly track and soccer fan, or any event her great grandchildren were involved in. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Robert "Bob" McKeeRobert (Bob) McKee, 91, passed away suddenly at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe, Ohio, on January 3, 2013. He is survived by his daughter Sarah of Chillicothe; brother James Arnott McKee of Elmhurst, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister Mary Buckley; brother William J. McKee; and his wife of 52 years, Maxine Mae Welch McKee. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 1, 1921 to William J. and Alice Arnott McKee, he began his career as an accountant at Paterson-Leitch Steel Company. A World War II veteran, he served as a carrier-based pilot in the United States Navy. In 1948, he graduated from Kent State University with a B.S. in Business Administration. From 1948-1954, he worked as a Special Agent for the FBI in various field offices, including Anchorage, Alaska. The remainder of his career was spent at Ford Motor Company as a Supervisor of Plant Security, Personnel Manager and Industrial Relations Manager. He retired in 1976 from the Dearborn Engine Plant, Dearborn, Michigan. In retirement, he lived in Lake Barkley, Kentucky; Citrus Springs, Florida; and Bristol Village, Waverly, Ohio. He was an avid trap & skeet shooter and had a passion for golf, which he was able to continue playing until this past season. Burial of his cremains will take place at a later date in Dows, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA or World Wildlife Fund.
